Get ready to brave the chilly night air as the festival rolls back into town for its ninth year. Picture this: a whimsical stroll through 12 dazzling temporary installations, not to mention our trusty collection of permanent light artworks. This year, the festival is pulling out all the stops with mind-bending light art that looks like it was plucked straight from a sci-fi flick. Think portals, black holes, and mirages—it's like stepping into a different dimension, but hopefully with fewer aliens.

As you meander through the trail, prepare to encounter delightful oddities like a towering stack of bathtubs that pulse with light and sound. That's right—a chandelier of bathtubs is calling your name. Don't miss Westferry Circus, where you can witness a mesmerizing tornado of lights swirling around a pylon—it's almost like a fairy tale, but with fewer magical creatures and more electricity. The fun continues at Wren Landing, where you'll be fully immersed in panels of sari fabric and luminous threads, and at Montgomery Square, where an iridescent mirage might just convince you you're dreaming. Lastly, swing by Eden Dock to check out a massive 20m wide sinkhole (not the sort you'd want to fall into, mind you) all surrounded by glowing lights.

The best part? It won't cost you a dime to check it out. Grab the map before you head out, or just snag one from our lovely stewards when you arrive. The installations are open from 5 to 10 pm, but if you're keen on a less crowded experience, slide in during the week—weekends can get a bit hectic, and the last thing you need is to be caught in a light-induced traffic jam.
