Wander into Chelsea Physic Garden and pretend you've stepped into a slightly greener time machine. Founded in 1673 so apothecaries could study the healing powers of plants, it's now London's oldest botanical garden, full of odd specimens, curious stories and enough plant lore to keep conversations oddly herbal for hours.

The garden opens its gates free of charge for an on 27 and 28 September 2025 as part of the Chelsea History Festival. It's a low-key chance to see historic beds, hear a few surprising tales about medicinal plants and enjoy a patch of calm without having to memorise any Latin names.
