Treat yourself and your little one to a fun day out

London is home to many wonderful places and activities that are suitable for younger children, toddlers and babies. From museums to playgrounds, to pick your own fruit farms, we've got some great suggestions for your next special trip with your little ones.


1. The Bees Knees Indoor Children's Garden
Location: Clapham Junction

The Bees Knees is an imaginative indoor play space for families with children aged 0-5 years. Babies and toddlers have the freedom to play and explore, whilst being creative. An open play session costs just £3 and they also run structured and regular classes for little ones, such as multi-sensory workshops, interactive musical classes and a creative craft campaign.

2. Mini Masterpieces at Dulwich Picture Gallery
Location: Dulwich Village

Discover the gallery and it's delightful collection with your little one. Then, get ready to roll up your sleeves and create your own masterpiece with your baby, in a practical and hands on session. Suggested age range for these sessions are for babies who are sitting and up to age 24 months and sessions are focused around a monthly changing theme.

3. Polka Theatre
Location: South Wimbledon

The Polka Theatre is a theatre designed purely for children and a wonderful place for them to discover the magic of the theatre. With a variety of productions being shown all the time, keep your eyes peeled for the shows specifically for babies and toddlers. Right now at the theatre, check out Hush-A-Bye , a performance for 6-month-olds to 2 years.

4. Deen City Farm
Location: Collier's Wood

An educational petting farm is a perfect place to take curious little ones, who will delight in meeting all the friendly farm animals. With an extensive array of animals to meet, as well as a riding school, a cafe and a farm shop to enjoy, everyone will have a fun day out.

5. Science Museum
Location: Brompton

The Science museum, especially aimed for kids, makes science interesting and is one of the most visited museums in London. Older kids will love the Launchpad where they'll find over 50 different hands-on experiments, while little kids have their own exhibits to visit too, meaning there's something for everyone. Admission is free for everyone and there are plenty of family-friendly cafes and restaurants to buy fresh food from.

6. SEA LIFE London Aquarium
Location: South Bank

A trip to the London Aquarium is a fun and educational trip for the whole family. Little ones especially will be delighted to watch all the beautiful sea creatures, especially inside the amazing glass tunnel.

7. Battersea Park Children's Zoo
Location: Battersea

Battersea Park Children's Zoo is another fantastic place for a day out with little explorers. Designed with children in mind, it's the perfect place to take little ones for an adventurous day out in London. There's plenty of mammals, reptiles, birds and more to see and a family ticket can be bought for just £31. Be sure to check out the yummy onsite cafe and the amazing adventure playground too.

8. Kew Gardens
Location: Kew

Kew Gardens offers a safe and wide open space, filled with beautiful flowers and fauna, for young visitors to enjoy. Let them enjoy the beauty and wonder of nature if the weather is nice or head inside to the incredible indoor playground, Creepers and Climbers. Coming soon to Kew, is a new Children's Garden, where children can climb, swing and slide, whilst discovering the world of plants.

9. Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre
Location: Brentford

There's so much for little ones to enjoy at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre; the swimming pool is a water wonderland! Kids will love the wave sessions and the fun water flume. Make sure you head along to the family fun sessions, where pool floats and inflatables are available.

10. Garsons Farm
Location: Esher

What's more fun for little ones than to pick their own food and eat it! Garsons Farm is a wonderful place to visit to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Stroll through the many fields and pick juicy, ripe berries or fresh vegetables. Don't forget to check out the garden centre shop too.

11. Indoor Play Centres
Location: Various

When the weather is too cold and wet to enjoy outdoor activities, London has plenty of fantastic indoor play centres to enjoy. These are great for little ones too, as most have a designated baby and toddler area, so little ones can explore and play without being knocked over by bigger kids.
