  • Freedom to be curious and creative as a child facilitates the development of innovative, problem-solving minds.

Scientifically backed research has proven that by engaging in curiosity and creative endeavours, children will improve their intellectual and cognitive development. Children need the freedom to be creative and curious to develop skills crucial for their future.

But creative skills are being lost over time …

Professor Land’s ground-breaking study followed 1,600 children over 10 years.

The drop in the percentage of children considered creative geniuses was astonishing:
  • 5 year olds: 98%
  • 10 year olds: 30%
  • 15 year olds: 12%

  • Same test undertaken by 280,000 adults: 2%. (Psychologists George Land and Beth Jarman 1968)

That’s a staggering 96% drop in creativity from childhood to adulthood!

The renowned educationalist Sir Ken Robinson highlighted the primary cause behind this unfortunate decline: the diminishing emphasis on creative subjects like art and music in our education systems.

Creative skills are crucial to developing innovative, problem-solving minds. A skill that NASA has recognised as fundamental; using the very same creativity test developed by Land and his team, to identify trailblazing scientists and engineers.

This ability to be curious and think ‘outside the box' is vital for our future and most importantly our children’s future.

Why is creativity important for children of all ages?

By being curious and pursuing creative endeavours, children will discover new interests, explore unfamiliar territory, develop problem-solving skills, and improve their concentration and critical thinking.

With super problem-solving minds and fantastic creative abilities, our children will be able to succeed in our ever-changing world.

Enter the creative playground of diddly.art

As mothers, Gerri and Isabelle noticed that as their children progressed through school, they had less and less time to be creative due to the emphasis on academic subjects. Gerri and Isabelle saw a vital need to facilitate their children’s creative development, to ensure that their little one’s were equipped with exceptional skills and resilience to face their future!

So Gerri and Isabelle created diddly.art - a thoughtfully crafted space to nurture children’s creativity and curiosity through the captivating realm of art.

    How does it work?

  • diddly.art is an Instagram-based project which invites all parents (or older children with parental/legal guardian consent) to send in a photo of their child's (4-16 year olds) artwork to [email protected], along with their first name, age, medium/material used and the title of the artwork.

  • The artwork can be of any medium, including paintings, drawings and sculpture, but it must reflect the theme of the month.

  • Upon receiving the artwork, Gerri and Isabelle will digitally frame it and share it on the diddly.art Instagram page.

  • Your child will be proud to see their masterpiece shared with the growing diddly.art community.

  • But that's not all. The cherry on top is that each entry is automatically placed into a monthly competition where the children can go into the draw to WIN £100 in toy or art vouchers!

  • It is FREE to enter your child's artwork in the diddly.art monthly competitions and there is no fee at any stage.

Be bold. be creative. be curious and have fun!

Head to diddly.art today and join the mission to help the creative development of our children’s minds!
