Have you ever wandered what's involved in a baby swimming lesson and how early they can start? Baby swimming lessons are designed to build water confidence, basic water safety and develop basic water skills as early as 6 weeks old (min 10Ibs).

So, what should you expect during an infant swimming lesson?

How are the swimming classes structured?

RIGHT

All classes are arranged by age and if you join the baby swim series or beginner toddler classes you can rest assured it will be everyone's first time!

Our lessons are fun, engaging, and relaxed, encouraging all parties to participate! Young babies will perform primitive swimming strokes, and the teacher will work to encourage these reflexes.

We have a dedicated viewing area where a second person can watch babies progress with one parent/guardian participating in the swimming lesson.

Each session lasts 30 minutes with 10 sessions and consists of 7 progressive levels. Once your baby has competed all 7 levels, you can move up to the advanced toddler lessons.

How to take care of your baby during the lessons

Baby's have a natural ability when submerged in the water, so you can be assured that there is no need to worry or feel nervous.

Hold them in a position that allows you to keep eye contact. Your baby will feel more at ease and secure, be sure to praise them regularly to help build confidence throughout the session.

Once your baby feels more comfortable in the pool, the instructor may encourage your baby to swim underwater. A baby's inbuilt gag reflex is strong in their early months, allowing them to hold their breath underwater by instinct.
