Vauxhall City Farm

A little piece of countryside in Central London

If you are in Central London with your kids, and it is all getting to be a bit busy and overwhelming, Vauxhall City Farm is a welcomed escape.

The farm is a registered charity and aims to provide visitors with educational activities and an insight into rural farm life. There is a range of guided visits and interactive workshops for all ages and needs. With plenty of farm animals to meet and greet, the whole family will have a wonderful time.

Vauxhall City Farm is also one of the oldest and most central city farms in London being located within earshot of Big Ben and in the shadow of MI6. Pretty handy!

Not just a great place to visit with a school group, you can also bring along your little ones and you can enjoy the animals too! Kids can meet some smaller, fluffy and feathery animals up close and personal, including rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and ducks.

You can do a self guided tour at Vauxhall farm if you are not part of a school group. With a variety of workshops available, you can pre book your visit and workshops online. Some of the workshops that kids can get involved in are:

- Wonderful Wool. Learn about the variety of animals who have their wool harvested each year and spun into yarn to make clothing with.

- Micro World. Explore the ecosystems within an ecology garden. Hunt amongst the bark, earth and plants, to find the smallest residents on the farm.

- Milk Magic. Explore the history of dairy production before embarking on the traditional method of churning butter by hand

- Land to Lunchbox. Discover where food comes from and how different food types make their journey from the earth, seas and trees, to be part of our balanced diet.

In addition to meeting animals and taking part in a workshop, there are also horse riding lessons available. With a range of horses and ponies at the farm that suit most needs and skill level. All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance.

If you are feeling pekish on your visit, you can visit the Old Dairy Cafe. You can have lunch, tea, coffee and cake. With a regular weekday menu, there are also specials including a hot dish, a salad, a soup, a savoury pastry and a small pasta. If you don't want to visit the cafe, you can have a picnic in the gardens or paddocks.

Cap off your visit to a visit to the farm shop for a beautiful souvenir.

Facilities: Fully wheelchair accessible, toilets and baby change facilities, buggy parking and rooms for hire.

Cost: Entry to the farm is donation based. Suggested donation is 3.
