A sanctuary on Regents Canal serving Japanese Food
Toconoco is a Japanese Cafe on the Regent’s Canal in East London. The word Toconoco means ‘Kids on the Floor’. That gives you a pretty great indication of how much they welcome their smaller patrons. They are a kid friendly cafe, serving delicious home cooked Japanese food.
Described as a little sanctuary filled with tea, cakes, snacks, meals, lunch boxes and juices, it is a place where kids can feel free to be themselves by relaxing and playing either inside in the dedicated kids room, or in the courtyard on a nice day.
The staff are warm and welcoming and encourage you to take your time and enjoy your experience. The locals love it and want to keep it a secret, so sorry that the secret is out!

With daily specials, the menu is really interesting. They serve full meals and also snacks for toddlers. But their speciality is dessert. The daily lunch set is 7.80 and includes a main dish with rice, miso and a salad. They also do toasts, rice balls, noodles, sweets and other set meals. It will give your toddlers an experience to taste foods they may not have always tried. Kids will be adventurous if you let them, it’s really a pleasure to watch.
They also do amazing japanese teas served in handmade pottery. Don’t worry, they also do coffee if you just need your fix.
A trip to Toconoco is something to savour and it truly is a beautiful sanctuary. Go by yourself, with your kids or with your mummy friends for a warm and memorable experience.
