Jeremy Deller's grand artistic caper, '', is finally pitching up in London to wrap up our bicentennial bash. They have already caused a delightful ruckus across the land, hobnobbing with deities in Dundee, strutting through Llandudno, mashing up myths and rave tunes in Derry/Londonderry, and even marvelling at Plymouth's ridiculously strong chaps. Now, this rather magnificent, giant, and utterly free art shindig is gracing Trafalgar Square. Do swing by on 26 July for a final hurrah that is genuinely family friendly and features bits and bobs from all four corners of the United Kingdom.
The day promises a bit of a spectacle, kicking off with what sounds like a rather lively Bacchanalian parade at 11 am from King Charles Street, meandering gently down Whitehall until it lands squarely in Trafalgar Square. Once there, expect a jolly good time with live music, various performances that might surprise or delight, hands on making workshops if you fancy getting a bit crafty, a chance to bump into some familiar faces who have popped out of the collection, and naturally, a colossal birthday tea party. It is basically an entire day dedicated to celebrating all things art, promising a good chuckle and maybe a few unexpected delights.
