Summer Holiday Activities in London

by Sally Foster (follow)
Child-friendly activities for the Summer Holidays

A collective cheer is heard across the UK as the summer holidays commence. Or is it a groan? It depends on whether you are the parent or the child in this scenario. But like it or not, it's happening, and there is a lot of time to fill in.

Luckily, London Mums Group has you covered. Here are some activities you and your little ones can participate in over the summer holidays:

1. Bowling at All Star Lanes

With four places in London to choose from, All Stars have both you and your kids covered for some bowling fun. Offering up a game of bowling with a kid's meal, drink and dessert, the eating is intermittently interrupted by some bowling.

All bowling lanes and pinspotters have been flown over from the USA to create a really great vibe, and it pays off for a great atmosphere. Including Karaoke at some venues which I must admit I can never resist.

Where: Brick Lane, Holborn, Stratford City and Shepherd's Bush.

2. Flip Out Trampoline Park

Another venue with locations all throughout London, Flip Out has trampolines, stunt box zones, ball games, resident DJs and loads of special events. It is a great place to let your kids go crazy and burn off loads of excess energy.

These school holidays there is something suitable for all ages. Kids can participate in special classes, and some locations even have summer holiday camps happening for six to fourteen-year-olds.

3. London National Park City Week

Coming up on 21st to 29th July, the National Park City Week is a week full of events held in parks across London. It's aim is for you to discover Londonís footpaths, waterways and wide open green spaces that we are lucky enough to have right on our footsteps.

With over 270 fantastic events and activities, your kids can enjoy encounters with urban wildlife, participate in boat and bike rides, stroll along the trails, learn about food and nature and have fun at the organised activities. It's a fantastic chance to enjoy the great outdoors and soak in the sunshine with your family.

For a full list of events and activities, please see here. There is also a range of competitions to participate in including a tree and dinosaur hunt.

4. Sea Life Aquarium

I am obsessed with aquariums. I find them incredibly relaxing. Of course, the aquarium on a school holiday may not be totally relaxing, but it would definitely be fun! It is also an educational experience for both kids and adults.

If under the sea animals are not your thing, the Sea Life Aquarium has a new Rainforest Adventure. Unearth what lies beneath the surface in the Amazon, and join Ranger Andy for a tropical adventure.

Where: County Hall, Westminster Bridge Road

5. The Making of Harry Potter

The ultimate in summer holiday activity, completely blow your kids (and yourself!) away with this incredible day out at the Warner Brothers Studio.

Walk in the footsteps of Harry Potter, Ron and Hermione. You will discover the sets, props and original costumes of the movies, and truly immerse yourself in the wizarding world. Your kids will learn the magic behind how the movies were made. It is a once in a lifetime unforgettable experience.

Where: Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, Studio Tour Drive, Leavesden

6. Dinosaur World Live

The Regent's Park Open Air Theatre is a must do for anyone in London. It is a cultural hub in the beautiful surroundings of Regent's Park. Coming up in August, Dinosaur World Live is a spellbinding and interactive show for kids with cool and massive dinosaur puppetry. Including the scary T-Rex! It may be a little scary for the younger ones, but I am sure that the older kids would get a kick out of it.

Where: Royal Park

7. Underbelly Festival

Located at Southbank, the Underbelly Festival continues in its 10th year and brings the best in live circus, comedy, cabaret and family entertainment to the heart of London.

You can enjoy international street food and have a drink at London's largest open air bar. There are lots to do for families this year with the biggest ever schedule. There is the ever popular Alien's Love Underpants show, Little Mermaid's Circus Sensation, mischievous Shakespeare comedy and a live-action video game escape room. And lots more!
