Things to do on your next snow day with kids
There can be nothing worse than long days stuck at home with bored kids! However when it's snowing, while pretty, it can be pretty hard to do all your normal go to kid friendly activities.
Luckily, London has plenty of fantastic indoor and outdoor activities and places that are perfect for your next snow day. So we have compiled a list of some of our favourites for you to enjoy.
1. Enjoy a hot chocolate
Is there anything better than a steaming mug of hot chocolatey goodness when it is freezing cold outside? Head to your nearest cafe for a hot chocolate, or brave a bracing walk while clutching the warm cup. If you need inspiration on a kid friendly cafe, try this list [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/child-friendly-cafes-in-london/ here].
2. Head to a Museum with heating
Museums are the perfect snow day alternative as they are heated and usually offer an array of child friendly activities to keep your little ones entertained. You can find a list of some of the best ones [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/family-friendly-museums-in-london/ here]. You could also visit London's amazing [Link https://www.visitsealife.com/london/ Sea Life Aquarium].
3. Cosy up at your local pub
There is nothing more quissentially british than a local pub. So why not take the kids out for a hearty meal at one of [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/family-friendly-london-pubs/ these].
4. Go Ice Skating
Nothing says winter to me more than ice skating. It must be those years spent in Canada! London has loads of ice skating rinks and many of them are actually indoors, so a tad warmer than outside! Here is our [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/ice-skating-rinks-in-london/ list].
5. Say oh well it's cold, let's just enjoy the snow!
Despite most of this list being indoor activities, sometimes it is really fun to go outside and play in the snow! So if you are looking for a lovely snow covered park, try one of these from the list [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/top-10-playgrounds-in-london/ here]. Or head to Richmond Park, Hyde Park or Regents Park to enjoy one of the prettiest snow covered gems.
6. Hit the sleds
Grab your sled and head to Greenwich Observatory’s famous hill, Hampstead Heath, or try Primrose Hill for some sleding fun. I myself don't have the best luck with sleding, but the kids always enjoy it!
7. Brave a play centre
Yes play centres are busy. Yes they are loud. But kids LOVE them. And there is normally coffee. So maybe that is worth just dealing with the crowds and noise by heading to one of [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/indoor-play-centres-in-london/ these] amazing indoor play centres that London has to offer.
8. Curl up with a story
Curl up with a book on your next snow day in the snug warm and enjoy sipping on a hot chocolate. London has some beautiful children's book stores and libraries and they often run story time. [Link https://londonmumsgroup.co.uk/best-childrens-bookshops-in-london/ Here] is a list for inspiration.
