There is a performance called Tales from the Lighthouse taking place. It's all about a rather reclusive lighthouse keeper who, despite living right on the coast, has become surprisingly terrified of the sea. You know, the usual 'big waves, scary storms' sort of thing. But then, a mysterious musical stranger turns up, and starts serenading the poor chap with tales of the ocean's wondrous side. It's less a therapy session, more a tuneful intervention, helping him rediscover why the sea isn't actually out to get him. Expect a jolly good time with stories, a good many songs both traditional and fresh, and some truly impressive puppet work.
It's primarily for the 5 to 11 year olds, so if you've got a little one in that bracket, they should be able to follow the plot without too much trouble. But don't fret if your accompanying adult or older child is worried about being bored rigid. There are enough clever bits with the music, the puppets, and perhaps even some jokes that aren't just about seagulls, to keep the grown ups and the more discerning youngsters entertained.
