Learn to ride horses in London

If you have a little animal lover in your family, then horse or pony riding lesson at Lee Valley Riding Centre will make you a hero. Lee Valley offers lessons for beginners, all the way through to more experienced riders. For both kids and kidults.

At Lee Valley, you can do group and private lessons, or even take advantage of the programs and activities available for birthday parties, pony days and evening courses.

With an indoor arena, two outdoor arenas, show jumping and cross country courses, Lee Valley is a five star facility and approved by the British Horse Society with 25 acres of space.

Courses to learn to ride start at age 5, and go all the way up to adults. For little ones aged 5 to 8, you can do a six week lesson program for 120. For older kids, aged 7 to 15, you can do a 12 week lesson program for 250.

If you aren't sure that you want to commit to a full course, you can do a 'have a go' lesson for complete beginners from 14.00pp for ages 5 to 15. These are group lessons. For more information on courses and lessons, see here.

If your mini person would love to meet a mini horse, you are in luck! Lee Valley has two adorable mini horses called Charlotte and Sugar. This is a great chance for kids to build confidence around horses.

A thirty minute session includes grooming, plaiting and taking photos and is suitable from age 3 at 17.50 pp. See here for more information.

You can also go to 'own a pony' day. This is a hands-on experience in all aspects of horse care such as grooming, handling and putting on saddles and bridles. It also includes a half hour ride. It is suitable from age 8 at 50 pp for the bigger horses or 30 for ages 3 to 8 for the ponies. See here for more information.
