Free of charge and a lovely oasis

[Link http://www.fulhampalace.org/ ] is a historical oasis and full of interesting history, art and artefacts. There is a long history on the site, from Prehistoric times and Roman settlement, through Medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian bishops to the present day. Established from around 700, it has served as a Bishop’s residence for over 12 centuries.



Children of all ages are very welcome in the museum. During half term, the education team runs children's workshops, which are a fun and hands on way to learn. These workshops may have an extra fee, although entry to the museum is free.

Half term activities at include a Family Fun Day suitable for ages 3 with constructive activities. There are also Palace Explorers which are weekly hands on sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays that look at different themes including arts and crafts, gardening, and cooking, to dressing up, exploring the palace and grounds, games, singing and storytelling.



The Palace Explorers are £5.50 for individual sessions or £30.50 per term. Sessions are aimed at different age groups, starting from as young as two years old.

As well as the palace, you can also explore the gardens. It is estimated to be approximately 500 years old and full of beautiful flowers, trees and is a wonderful place to explore the great outdoors with your family. There is a walled garden, vinery and wisteria pergola. It is perfect for a family picnic.



If you fancy a bite to eat on your visit, the Drawing Room Cafe has views of the garden and offers a selection of hot and cold food, including a new menu for kids, including Ella’s Kitchen pouches for babies, beans on toast, fish fingers, toasties and pizza. There are also games, colouring sheets and pencils, and highchairs are available in the play area in the café’s adjoining dining area.

Please note: The museum and some historic rooms are currently closed while we restore the spaces and update the displays ready for the new museum.

Opening Hours: 9am to 4pm depending on the season.
