Nature is beautiful, but it is not artful: How do we organise and arrange the elements of nature in order to create a powerful pictorial design?

The focus of this structured 2-hour session will be on design and composition. You will pick a subject to paint and be encouraged to think about what statement you wish to make about that subject. Working in monochrome, you will to carry out a series quick oil sketches, using a limited number of tones to break your subject down into flat masses. As you progress, using fewer tones for each subsequent sketch, you will be encouraged to refine the shapes of your masses create dynamic and interesting compositions that support your artistic statement.

You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, and receive expert guidance from an awrd-winning professional artist as you complete your excersises. This class will be quite challenging is ideally suited to intermediate and advanced painters.
