Perfect for train obsessed kids

My little one is obsessed with all things train. It started with Thomas. The obsession grew once he watched the episode of Peppa where they went on a field trip on a train. Now there is no going back.

Located in the heart of South London, nestled within Brockwell park in Lambeth, it is an activity that the whole family can enjoy. Operating on Sundays between March and October, you can ride on a 7¼ inch gauge miniature railway for 220 meters or 240 yards, from Herne Hill Gates to Brockwell Lido and return.

It is a great option if you are budget conscious, as tickets only cost £1 return for all and under two's travel free. They welcome kids of all ages, including big kids like Dads or Grandpas who also are train obsessed.



The first train of the day runs at 11am and the last train runs at 4pm. You can also celebrate your little ones birthday at the railway, by hiring out the train and offering everyone unlimited rides. Pretty sure my son would just go round and round until he got dizzy! It is another great budget option for a party as you bring your own food, drink, decorations and cake, and the hiring of the train is only £50 for 30 mins or £90 for 1 hour then £30 per 30 mins thereafter.

Open to the public on weekends only. The best way to get there is by tube, just a two minute walk from Herne Hill station. You can also catch a bus or drive as parking is free on street on Sundays, and the Lido offers 2 hours free parking as well.
