The perfect sized zoo for children

Battersea Park Zoo is a children's zoo located in the heart of Battersea Park in the London borough of Wandsworth. Combining a zoo with a play area, cafe and gift shop, it is the perfect place for your little ones to have their first animal encounter.

So what does a day out at the Battersea Park Zoo consist of?

Animals

Animals of course! Featuring mammals, reptiles and birds, your children will be delighted with all the furry friends they will make. There are otters, monkeys, wallabies, snakes, emus and more. Some are very exotic and hail from across the seas, while others are more local but still gorgeous.

You can enjoy watching the animals being fed at different times throughout the day. There are also special animal themed days where you can meet an animal, like the upcoming snail day, dumbo rat day, bug day, butterfly day and cotton top tamarin day. On these days you can get a bit closer and also do some arts and craft or read a storybook featuring your favourite new friend. On the cotton top tamarin day you might be lucky enough to feed him a banana!

If you want to give a gift a bit outside the box, why not a one-to-one keeper experience? Accompanied by an experienced keeper, your child can help to feed, clean and care for some of the animals, learning more about their habits.

Food

The Battersea Park Zoo has its very own Lemon Tree Cafe which serves a selection of hot and cold snacks. This includes paninis, toasties, salads, sandwiches, kidsí lunchboxes, ice-creams and sweets. If you are thirsty, you will also find a selection of soft drinks, coffee and teas.

There are also picnic tables and areas around the zoo to enjoy a packed lunch.

Play Area

Another reason why Battersea Park Zoo is perfect for children is that it features an adventure playground on site. Your kids can run free in the sand bottomed play area, while they slide down a multitude of slides, engage in imagination play in the water play area, take a ride in a helicopter, drive boats on the pond or climb atop the fort. Parents can sit back and relax on the picnic tables provided.
