St Patrick's Day Celebrations In London

by Rebecca Formston (follow)
Celebrate the luck of the Irish this year in London

St Patrick's Day is always a great excuse to get together with friends and family and celebrate with some Irish fun and perhaps a pint of Guinness in hand.

This year, St Patrick's Day falls on Saturday 17th March, so we've found some great St Patrick's Day celebrations around London, that are also family friendly.

1. St Patrick's Day Parade

This lively parade kicks off at 12pm from Piccadilly and makes it way on a 1.5 mile route through the capital, passing iconic London landmarks and celebrating all things Irish! Take in the beautiful floats, enjoy marching bands and watch sports clubs and Irish dancing performers as they make their way through London.

The parade will take place on Sunday 18th March.

2. St Patrick's Festival Family Zone

As part of the St Patrick's Day Festival in Trafalgar Square, families can enjoy plenty of entertainment in this zone designated just for them. Located in Pall Mall East and happening from 12pm-6pm on Sunday 18th March, families can enjoy a great range of activities, including games and stories, to celebrate this Irish holiday. There will also be bubble shows, stilt walkers, magicians, balloon modelling, children's entertainers and bodhran workshops available to enjoy.

Enjoy this free family event and pack a picnic to enjoy at the family picnic area.

3. St Patrick's Day Festival in Trafalgar Square

Celebrate all things Irish with this jam-packed festival of Irish entertainment. Enjoy live Irish performances on the main stage, including traditional Irish music, Irish Dancers and a community choir from Dublin. Browse craft stalls selling beautiful Irish products such as soaps, skin care, jewellery and souvenirs. There will also be a number of community stalls to browse too.

This Festival takes place on Sunday 18th March.

For more information on the above three St Patrick's events, see the official London website.

4. St Patrick's Day North End Road Market

Enjoy browsing stalls full of crafts and street foods at North End Road Market on 17th March from 9am-6pm. Shoppers can also enjoy live Irish music and entertainment to keep in the Irish spirit!

5. Enjoy a Guinness at a London Pub

London is home to many fantastic Irish pubs, who will be in full swing of green festivities this St Patrick's Day. Some of these pubs are family friendly and may even cater for children with a kids menu. Our top picks to check out this St Patrick's Day are:

The Sheep Haven Bay in Camden Town
