Dance is a fantastic way for your child to learn coordination, technique and life skills, whilst making friends and having fun in a structured environment.
Most dance schools in London start classes for children as young as toddlers and some even have classes for adults.

London Mums Group has selected some reputable dance schools across London for you to browse through and contact for your child's dance lessons:
1. Twickenham Academy of Dance

Twickenham Academy is a fantastic dance school in South West London, offering classes for children from as young as 18 months, in a range of different dance styles whilst providing a high level of technique. Classes are held in a purpose built ballet studio with mirrors, ballet barres and viewing rooms so parents can watch each week.
They follow highly regarded dance examination boards, including Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exams, allowing children to enter exams and have a high track record of results. As well as this, children are also given the opportunity to be a part of the school's fantastic dance shows, held in beautiful theatres and, through invite only, can become a part of competition dances.
The teaching staff at Twickenham Academy are highly trained and talented, some having trained as children themselves at the school and gone on to further training at full time dance colleges. Some of Twickenham Academy's alumni have gone on to appear in West End musicals, television shows and other major productions.
2. J's Dance Factory

J's is a fun and fast moving dance school in London for kids from aged 3. They offer a variety of dance styles, including ballet and tap, plus street dance. Examinations are offered if children would like to take part and the school is all inclusive, meaning everyone gets to be involved in events such as shows and performing.
Children from J's have been put forward for castings and boot camps for West End shows such as The Lion King and Matilda, with some successfully gaining roles in these productions.
3. Julie Sianne Theatre Arts

Known as one of the best dance schools in Surrey, Julie Sianne Theatre Arts is a dynamic and innovative dance school, providing outstanding training for young dancers.
Julie Sianne offers an extensive timetable of classes, varying in styles and disciplines and suitable for children from 2.5 right up to adults.
The school offers children the chance to partake in graded examinations and has an excellent record of exam results.
Julie Sianne invites dancers to perform in shows and at dance competitions, as well as exciting charity work.
Alumni students have gone on to train further at professional dance colleges, with most being highly successful in gaining West End and touring performing work.
4. Stagecoach Performing Arts School

Stagecoach offers budding young performers a chance to explore all three main performing disciplines: Dance, Singing and Acting. Classes are available to suit a variety of ages and abilities and they offer holiday workshops and birthday parties, as well as weekly classes.
Classes start for children as young as 4, with a special "Early Stages" class being held for those younger performers.
5. Dakoda's Dance Academy

Dakoda's Dance Academy is a children's dance and performing arts academy, with a variety of classes being held across London. They offer small class numbers with high quality teaching, in a variety of dance disciplines.
Children are given the opportunity to enter RAD examinations and perform in theatre productions and shows.
6. South London Dance Studios

With a wide range of dance styles available to give children of all abilities a chance to dance, South London Dance Studios has many classes on offer being, taught by teachers who are ex performers and/or ISTD qualified.
Classes include ballet, tap, modern, national, jazz and Street dance, as well as a class especially for the youngest of dancers, adults classes and specialist training for boys.
7. Babyballet

babyballet aims to give every child aged 6 months to 6 years the chance to dance and have fun. All classes are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, making them the perfect way to start your child's dance journey.
9. East London Dance School

East London Dance School teaches ballet classes that are based on the Cecchetti Method. They offer ballet classes, adult classes, exam classes and great dance opportunities.
The teaching faculty at East London Dance include many highly trained teachers and the school is continuing to grow after its 9 years of being opened.
